Louvre Drive Actuator Type Magpush GC84TL20/56 240 v ac. 170mm Stroke.

Time to fully extend = 17seconds.

The Magpush actuator has been the standard drive motor for the last 26 years on Farm Electronics Motorised Louvres. It has proved a most robust and reliable device in most situations. Unfortunately the manufacturer, SKF has advised us that this model will be discontinued in 18 months time.

We have now selected a new Actuator called the Mingardi D8 that we intend to supply with all Farm Electronics systems from April 2010. While physically being quite similar to the Magpush unit it has some significant differences in its operation.

Firstly the Mingardi actuator is much faster (Time to fully extend = 8seconds). For this reason it cannot be used as a replacement on existing Magpush equipped installations. (all actuators must run at similar speeds to maintain “AIR MIX” proportions). Air Mixing will be fine on new installations, as we will adjust the Cropscan “Louvre Pulse Times” to suit the faster shaft speed.

Secondly it will now be possible to connect the actuators “in parallel” in regards to the wiring back to the main control panel. This practice was not possible with the Magpush type device. On the downside of this feature, it will no longer be possible to fit position indication lamps (Open – Close) for individual louvre motors.

We have manufactured a mounting bracket for the Mingardi D8 actuator that is interchangeable with the Magpush bracket. Therefore it will be possible to upgrade an old Magpush system with all new Mingardi D8 motors without the need to make any mechanical alterations.

Spare Actuator Motors for the existing Magpush systems.

We do possess a residual stock of Magpush actuators that should last into 2011 at least. After this time we can offer an alternative Mingardi EURO1 actuator that is slightly faster than the Magpush stroke time. Time to fully extend = 15.5seconds.

While this is not ideal it could be used on existing systems although there is the danger of the air mix getting out of proportion over a period of time. If this were not considered acceptable then old systems would need to be fully upgraded to the new Mingardi D8. For customers with more than one store the remaining working Magpush actuators could then be retained for future spare parts.

It should also be noted that the existing control panel Open/Close lamps will not work with the Mingardi EURO1 actuator.
