CASE STUDY: The Chicken or the Egg Versus The Building or the Ventilation System

The Chicken or the Egg

The Building or the Ventilation System

There are some similarities comparing this age old dilemma.

We would like to strongly contend that the Ventilation System Design (and storage capacity) should always come before the building.  Frustratingly in the majority of cases this does not happen.

Our point is that the ventilation system performance (primarily airflow) and the practicality of the loading of any store can be seriously compromised by the building design.

Even more annoying is the fact that 9 times out of 10 there is no increase to the cost of the building at all to get everything right.

To make the building a couple of feet narrower or wider, position the doors in the best location and getting the eaves height to suit the boxes will be so easy to do at the planning stage.  This rule equally applies to bulk stores as well.  Unfortunately getting it wrong causes long term inefficiency for the lifespan of the store.

Farm Electronics are happy to advise on the best layout to maximise the tonnage stored and maintain optimum air distribution and ventilation rates.  Using our in house CAD drawing capability we can easily produce Concept Layout drawings.

We always produce loading / layout drawings for any project.  There is no obligation to this service.

Please feel free to contact us for advice on the building design ideally prior to submitting plans.  A few tweaks to the design can pay handsome dividends to the Crop Store Performance.
